From 5 February 2025, RWG (Rotterdam World Gateway) will be providing Premium Terminal Data in the Portbase service, Cargo Controller. We are working together to improve data sharing in the port of Rotterdam. For shippers and forwarders, this will offer further improved insights into the container statuses of their import flows via the Port of Rotterdam.
More transparency
By offering this, RWG is providing the market with high-quality data to give greater transparency into the container process through the terminal. This data can be used to further optimise logistics chains and volume flows to and from the hinterland. An improved data supply will help to achieve more efficient processing, better insight into detention and demurrage, and a clear overview of how every individual container is handled. RWG is confident that using the data will significantly help to achieve improvements in the overall logistical process for shippers and forwarders.
All terminal data in one place
The connection of RWG means that all of Rotterdam’s deep-sea terminals are now linked to Cargo Controller. Hutchison Ports ECT Rotterdam (ECT) and APM Terminals (APMT) are also sharing Premium Terminal Data. This gives shippers and forwarders the advantage of no longer having to consult multiple platforms and websites or having to refresh data manually. Furthermore, information can be provided securely and centrally to only authorised parties.
The available data elements are sent directly from the terminal’s own planning system, so users can be sure to have the most up-to-date and reliable insights. Not only does this open up time savings, it also enables chain partners to proactively take action based on up-to-date and reliable information. The result is more coordinated planning and a smoother flow in the overall logistical container chain. RWG is providing the following data elements:
- Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) of the seagoing vessel.
- *Estimated Discharge Time (EDT), based on the unloading sequence and taken directly from the terminal’s quay planning system. (*The Estimated Discharge Time (EDT) is only visible once the hinterland inland operator has been nominated)
- Estimated Time of Departure (ETD) of the seagoing vessel.
- Gate-out-data, the exact time when the inland operator leaves the terminal with the container.
Below is an overview of the data elements for all the connected terminals:
Each terminal sets its own conditions for viewing terminal data. These conditions may vary between terminals and between data elements.
How can you get access to Premium Terminal Data?
In order to receive terminal data from RWG, APMT or ECT, you require a Portbase Cargo Controller account. Different procedures apply in each terminal. Read more about this service here from Wednesday February 5th.
The Cargo Controller service can be accessed via a simple web interface or can be fully integrated into your own systems using the API. More information can be found here.
About Portbase
Portbase is a not-for-profit organisation that operates on a cost-covering basis and occupies a neutral role in Dutch ports. It acts as a director to bring parties together, makes arrangements to promote collaboration and runs the Dutch Port Community System which digitally links all the parties within the logistics chains. Portbase facilitates data-sharing between businesses and information exchange with governments to enable everyone to work more quickly, more efficiently and for lower costs. Together with our growing community (over 6,500 national and international organisations), Portbase is making data-sharing increasingly valuable. Our aim is together to build the smartest port communities and thereby to make ports and logistics chains through the ports seamless, sustainable and safe.
