Inland operators
With the introduction of the Secure Chain, your client will no longer receive a release from the carrier by email with a PIN, but rather digitally in the Portbase Port Community System. The collection rights for the container will then be passed on to you digitally. You will receive notification of this in the Hinterland Container Notification (HCN) Portbase service.
How it works
Your client will authorise you to collect the import container(s) from the terminal. You will no longer receive a PIN. The authorisation will appear automatically in the Hinterland Container Notification (HCN) Portbase service via a preliminary pre-notification to the terminal. You only need to finalise this pre-notification and then send it. It will thus automatically become part of your pre-notification.
Appointing the Executing Charter
If you want to transfer the right to make a pre-notification to another transport company (subcontractor), you can easily do so in HCN on the Shipment tab. The following applies for road transport: if you are pre-notifying the container yourself, but transport is being carried out by a charter, please do not forget to fill in the ‘Executing Charter’ field correctly; an incorrect entry will mean that the executing carrier does not have access.
Procedure for shippers and forwarders
Your client (the shipper/freight forwarder/importer) will also work in Portbase within the Secure Chain. They will use the Cargo Release Manager or Cargo Controller service for this purpose.
